Vehicle sales in Brazil – New vehicle sales in Brazil increased in the first half of February. There were 73,912 registrations, almost 16% more than the 15 days of the same month in 2024 and an increase of 7.4% compared to the first half of January 2025.
The data is from Bright Consulting, which attributes the growth to the issue of business days. This year, Carnival takes place in the first days of March, while in 2024 the first half of February was not a “full” month.
In any case, the average daily vehicle sales also registered an increase in the first half of February. There were 7,391 units/day compared to 6,885 vehicles/day in the first half of January, an increase of 7.3%.
As a result, vehicle sales in the first 45 days of the year totaled 232,168 units, 7.7% above the 215,630 cars in 2024.
VW gains share, while GM and Fiat lose
According to the Bright survey, Volkswagen was the one that gained the most market share in the first two weeks of February compared to the same period in January. The German brand went from 12.5% to 18.1%, an increase of 5.6 percentage points (pp).
In contrast, the leader Fiat saw a reduction of 1.4 pp, falling to 21.6%. The biggest hit was from General Motors, which lost 3.1 pp, and plummeted from 13.4% to 10.3%.
Segmento de electrificados
Sales of electrified vehicles in the first half of February totaled 6,151 registrations. Thus, the category recorded growth of 43% compared to the middle of February last year, but a decline of 11.8% compared to the first 15 days of January.
Plug-in hybrids represented the largest share of the electrified market in the period: 2,279 units or 37% of sales. Mild hybrids and full hybrids accounted for almost 36%, while pure electrics accounted for 27%.
