Tasa Lubrificantes factory
In the early hours of Tuesday (14), a fire hit the Tasa Lubrificantes factory, located on Presidente Dutra Highway, in Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. The incident began around 3 am, after an explosion that caused flames visible in several parts of the Morro Agudo region.
The Fire Department teams were promptly called and managed to control the fire around 6:30 am. Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries during the incident. The management of Tasa Lubrificantes confirmed that, at the time of the fire, only the company’s security guard was present, and he was able to alert the authorities quickly.
Luciano Lima, the company’s administrator, arrived at the scene around 20 minutes after the fire started and highlighted that there is still no clear information about the cause of the fire. He stated: “This will be an internal investigation, which I will ask to be done. We don’t know. The company only operates until 10 pm. The fire happened at 3 am, more or less.” Lima also announced the opening of an investigation to look into the circumstances that led to the incident.
Images of the destruction caused by the fire at Tasa Lubrificantes were shared on social media and show the severity of the situation, including the collapse of the roof of the factory warehouse. The work of the rescue teams was essential to avoid further damage and ensure safety in the area.
The administrator expressed relief that there were no victims and thanked the Fire Department for the speed with which it acted. “Thank God, just the fact that there were no victims is already a relief for us at the company,” said Lima.
The situation is still being monitored by the competent authorities and more information should emerge as the investigation progresses.
