Brazilian lubricants market
The Brazilian lubricants market closed the third quarter of 2024 with an accumulated volume of 1.177 million m3, showing a growth of 2.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. The last 3 months could not sustain the strength shown in the first half of the year, indicating a downward trend in the volume sold.
Market share
In terms of market share, there were no major changes in the TOP 10 companies, with Iconic leading with 18.1% followed by Moove (16.1%), Vibra (15.5%), Raízen (10.9%) and Petronas (8.9%). See the table below for the other companies in this ranking.
Record imports of base oils
The volume of Brazilian imports of base oils reached 705,161 m3, up to September 2024, which represents a historical record for the period. During the period, the country spent a little over US$647 million.
The United States continues to be the country that sent the most base oil to Brazil, accounting for 72.7% of the total imported, followed by Malaysia and South Korea with 4.4%, Bahrain with 3.9%, Qatar with 3.1% and India with 2.3%. Other countries with smaller quantities accounted for the remaining 9.2%.
