Semiconductors should affect production

Semiconductors should affect production – The National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) estimates that the semiconductor crisis will continue to affect national production at least until the first half of 2023, with the possibility of lasting until mid-2024.

“Semiconductors remain a major problem for our industry. The situation is a little better (compared to last year) and should evolve every month, although this year around 250,000 units were no longer produced due to this problem. This will continue to be a limiting factor for our production at least until the first half of 2023 and probably extending until the beginning of 2024”, declared Márcio de Lima Leite, president of the association.

Good numbers

Despite the effects of the shortage, Anfavea celebrated the results of the automotive sector in November. The industry licensed 204,000 vehicles last month, which represents an increase of 12.8% compared to October numbers. The result was also positive (growth of 17.9%) compared to the volume registered in November 2021.

As for production, the amount reached 215,800 units in November, up 4.7% compared to October this year and 4.9% compared to the volume of November 2021.

“Once again we surpassed the mark of a magic number for us, which is above 200 thousand units. And now, in 2022, at the beginning of December, we are surpassing the volume of our 2021 production, despite the supply problems that still limit the market. So it is a very expressive volume for our sector, especially since we started the year with some doubts and lower results”, pondered Lima Leite.

December should not be so positive

Without making many predictions for the end of the year, the president of Anfavea admitted that the December volume should not be as positive as it could be.

“In addition to the automakers taking collective vacations due to the year-end recess, we are still going to have some ‘contaminated’ days due to the World Cup. I believe we will have a good production volume in December, but probably a little less than last year’s amount (when just over 206,000 vehicles were produced) ”, he concluded.
