Light vehicle market

Light vehicle market – The Brazilian automobile industry recorded a preliminary number of 242.1 thousand cars and light commercial vehicles sold in November. This is the second-best monthly result of 2024, behind only the 250.1 thousand registered in October. The comparison with the same month last year, however, shows growth of around 20%.

Including sales from last month, the domestic market has already absorbed 2.25 million cars and light vehicles compared to 1.94 million in the same period last year, an increase of around 17%, considering the 1.94 million consolidated by Fenabrave in 2023. The average daily sales for the year reached 9,658 against 8,520 in 2023, 13.4% higher.

Fiat once again led the registrations. Stellantis’ main brand in the country accumulated 48.9 thousand units in the month, equivalent to 20.2% of the market share, and surpassed Volkswagen (17.1%), in second place with 41.5 thousand units sold, and Chevrolet (12.5%), with 30.2 thousand.

Hyundai was the fourth brand that sold the most in November. It sold 25.4 thousand (10.5%), compared to 17 thousand for Toyota (7%), 15.8 thousand for Renault (6.5%) and 11 thousand for Jeep (4.6%). The top ten also included Honda (3.6%), with 8.7 thousand registrations, ahead of the surprising BYD (3.3%), in ninth place with 8 thousand units, even without light commercial vehicles, and Nissan (2.4%), which sold 5.9 thousand vehicles.

With 14.7 thousand units registered, the Volkswagen Polo was the best-selling vehicle in the month. The Strada pickup truck, leader in the year with 128.5 thousand — just 1.8 thousand more than the Volkswagen hatchback —, was in second place in November, with 12.3 thousand registrations, along with the Hyundai HB20.
