Base oils
Imports of base oils grew 23.3% compared to the first quarter of 2022, reaching a volume of 152,315 m3, representing about 39.5% of the needs of the Brazilian market.
The Reduc, Mataripe and Lubnor refineries contributed 131,108 m3, or 34% of the basic market.
The re-refining industry has placed on the market around 102,500 m3, meaning 26.6% of the basics consumed in the country. The increase in the participation of this segment is due in part to a new methodology applied by the magazine Lubes em Foco, after the release by the ANP of the data of grease production in the country. Some re-refiners that only produced for their own use or for the manufacture of greases now appear as being part of the market for base oils in Brazil, since this input is converted into lubricating oils and greases signifying a demand for base oils that was not being computed as a market need.
