Linear Alpha Olefins – Exxonmobil announced that construction of the  new linear alpha olefins (LAO) manufacturing unit at its integrated petrochemical complex in Baytown, Texas, is progressing, with commercial departing projection stifling in mid-2023. When in full operation, the new facility will have the capacity to produce approximately 350,000 metric tons of LAO annually.

ExxonMobil will manufacture 10 high purity LAO products on site and market the new  offering under the Elevexx ™ trademark.

“We aim to bring a collaborative approach to the market by combining our manufacturing and technical expertise with the knowledge of our customers’ formulation to create a winning proposition,” said Mike Fanset, Global Marketing Manager for LAO at ExxonMobil. We are vertically integrated through a series of market applications that best position us to bring end-to-end solutions to our customers.”

The new manufacturing facility will provide the latest quality control technology, including a line of analyzers designed to assess product quality and purity in real time, helping to maximize consistency and reliability of supply.

“With the new LAO line, we are incorporating advanced analytics with capabilities to assess and ensure the highest standard of quality and purity control,” said Denise Burcham, Venture Manager of the new LAO manufacturing plant in Baytown.

Founded in 1919, the complex is located on approximately 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Canal, about 25 miles east of Houston. The facility includes refinery, technology center and chemical plants, olefins, and plastics.
