Brazilian lubricant market in july

Brazilian lubricant market in july – The Brazilian lubricants market presented in July a sales volume of 125,566 m3, this being the second-best month of the year, just behind the record reached in March. This good performance was mainly due to the diesel engine oil segment, which showed an increase of 12.7%. with respect to the previous month.

Another segment that contributed a lot to the positive result in July was transmissions and hydraulic systems, with a growth of 8.9%, relative to the month of June.

The segment of oils for Otto cycle engines had a drop of approximately 1.8%, compared to June.

The lubricant market is in line with the automotive industry

These numbers are well aligned with the performance of the automotive industry, which saw its heavy vehicle segment grow 1.42% in July, reaching in the period from January to July 2021 an increase of 47.7%, compared to 2020, configuring thus the best performance in this segment in the last seven years.

According to Fenabrave, this reaction to economic stimuli has also been impacting the motorcycle segment, which had significant growth of around 44.7% over the first seven months of last year, reaching the highest sales volume for the period in the last six years.

Meanwhile, the light vehicle segment was unable to keep up with these good performances, as it continues to suffer from the lack of electronic components, and may have stopped producing almost 130 thousand vehicles in the first half of 2021.

Base oils imports

In July, Brazil imported 84,276 m3 of base oils, an increase of 165.4% over the previous month, reaching a total in the first seven months of 557,635 m3, surpassing the years 2020 and 2019 by more than 81%.

Of the total imported in July, around 73% came from the United States, other countries are on the list for shipments to Brazil, in order: Malaysia, South Korea, Bahrain, Qatar, India, and Sweden.
