Brazilian Fuel market

Brazilian Fuel market – In 2024, 133.1 billion liters of liquid automotive fuels were sold in Brazil. In the case of gasoline C (with anhydrous ethanol blend), there were 44.19 billion liters, a 4% reduction compared to 2023. Hydrous ethanol fuel had 21.66 billion liters in sales, an increase of 33.4%, bringing the total for Otto cycle engines to a 5.7% increase compared to the previous year.

Regarding diesel B (with a biodiesel blend), 67.25 billion liters were sold, an increase of 2.6% compared to 2023.

The data was presented by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) during the 2025 Fuel Market Assessment Seminar (base year 2024).

The event was a hybrid event, held in Rio de Janeiro, with the presence of market agents and other interested parties, and broadcast live on the Teams platform. The seminar was opened by ANP directors Fernando Moura, Symone Araújo and Mariana Cavadinha.

During the year, domestic production of gasoline A (pure, still without the addition of anhydrous ethanol) accounted for 90% of the total domestic supply, with the remaining 10% supplied by imports. In the case of diesel A (still without the biodiesel blend), imports accounted for approximately 25% of sales.

Bottled gas

In the case of LPG (bottled gas), 7.57 million cubic meters were sold in the country in 2024, an increase of 2.2% compared to 2023. Imports accounted for 25% of sales.

Biodiesel sales grew, reflecting the increase in the content of this biofuel in fossil-based diesel in 2024, from 12% to 14%. A total of 8.96 billion liters were sold in the year, while in 2023 the total reached 7.34 billion.

The year ended with 131,278 agents regulated by ANP in the supply sector, including: 44,678 gas stations; 58,283 LPG resellers; 384 distributors (among those of liquid fuels, LPG, aviation fuels, solvents and asphalts); and 152 lubricant producers.
