Grease Market
The grease market, in Brazil and Latin America, celebrated the 1st Meet with the Lubricant Grease Market International Conference, held virtually by the magazine Lubes em Foco on October 21st and 22nd. For a market still lacking in information, the event brought a very high level of lectures and debates, with the presence of international and national experts, talking about the market, technologies, and the supply chain.
During the two-day event, the public could debate and ask questions to the speakers, receiving important information for their business and technical development.
In the first panel, the editor of Lubes em Foco magazine, Pedro Nelson Belmiro, and the coordinator of the IBP grease subcommittee, Manoel Honorato, talked about market numbers, regulatory issues, and requirements that directly impact grease producers, the issue of Lithium in Brazil and also the challenges of the supply chain, such as fatty acids and base oils, together with the competition from other segments for these raw materials.
Technological developments were presented in several lectures, with the presence of Eider Santos from Lubrizol, Daniela Serrano from Gelita and Mark Wheeler from Axel.
Dr. Carl Kernizan’s lecture addressed a new technology for the production of preformed Urea and Lithium greases, with the objective of optimizing manufacturing and supply chain difficulties.
ICONIC Lubrificantes, the largest national producer of greases, brought in the words of Daiane Spadari, relevant information about the manufacturing processes and their impacts on the performance of the greases.
The event ended with the presence of the International Vice President of Stratco Inc., Ms. Cecilia Mancero, who spoke about aspects of grease manufacturing and also a look at sustainability.
According to the organizers, the feedback received from the public was excellent, with the suggestion that this event definitely enters Editora Onze’s schedule of events, as there are still many topics to be debated and analyzed for the development of this market.
